Now housed in a beautifully restored former Coaching Inn

The Real Wood Furniture Company’s showrooms, some of which are shown below, are housed in a beautifully restored former Coaching Inn, one mile Northeast of Chipping Norton town centre.

We undertook a lengthy and thorough restoration of the building which was built in 1704 and it’s worthy of a visit in its own right!

The Inn has been through many changes and has seen numerous uses over the years. It was once split into three separate cottages before being converted back to one large residence.

Plans to turn it into a nursing home in the mid 20th century never materialized, but not before the creation of a myriad of small rooms. In later years the building was used residentially and partially as a kennels and cattery business mainly run from various outbuildings on the site.

Today the contemporary sits alongside the traditional in spaces featuring exposed stone and brick, and lime plaster walls, with timber and stone floors, stunning archways and exposed roof timbers, accent lighting and delicious scents.

We have included new designs to our unique collection of hand-crafted English oak, burr oak, and ash country furniture with elm, walnut, forged steel and glass added to the mix of materials that we work with. Just a few examples of our work are shown below.

Come and see for yourself. We aim to offer you a relaxed and enjoyable experience. We encourage you to wander through the various rooms to see, to touch, to seek inspiration, and to fully appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of our work. If you need help or advice, Chris or a member of the team will be more than happy to help.
